The current study has been conducted with the aim of assessing the extent to which the Mongolian Public Service Broadcaster abides by the Law on Public Service Broadcasting and fulfills its public service mandate. To be more precise, the study aimed to identify changes to programming policy that have been made since 2007 when the Press Institute monitored the Public Service Broadcaster’s programs for the first time and provided recommendations for improvement. Two surveys have been conducted to meet the above objective: An analysis of the programming structure of the Mongolian National Broadcaster (MNB) and content analysis of the news and information programs of the MNB.

This report summari ses the results of fieldwork conducted during the summer of 1995 under the auspices of the FAO/TCP project (TCP/MON/4553) on rural development in Arkhangay province. This project, which will run until mid-1996, is working in close collaboration with the National Poverty Alleviation Programme (NPAP) and the proposed IFAD Arkhangay Livestock Project, to better understand rural poverty in Arkhangay province, and to propose soluti ons.
