Open Society Forum and International Budget Project (USA) are now receiving applications from candidates to participate in the Budget Analysis Skills Training to be held in Ulaanbaatar from 26-30 June, 2006.
Goal of the workshop is to enable participants to learn to produce budget analyses independently. These skills will be taught with their application in mind i.e. analysis leading to advocacy. The workshop will be conducted in English and the software that will be used is Word and Excel. Therefore it is important that participants be familiar (if not proficient) with these programs and proficient in written and spoken English.
During the 5 days of training participants will learn budget processes, budget terminology, case studies of budget groups from around the world (including a documentary film), and budget analysis and advocacy exercises. The workshop will be largely a participatory exercise -- though some issues in the training will be covered through presentations -- and participants will be required to respond to issues, raise questions and discuss the course material, and make presentations during the training sessions.
The training will be led by two trainers from International Budget Project based in Washington, DC.
The training is free of charge, but the number of seats is limited.
Those interested should submit their applications to Open Society Forum at the address below by the COB on June 7, 2006. Applications should include (1) a letter of interest stating the objective for participation, the commitment to participate in all sessions of the training and plans on how skills obtained during the training will be used in the future; (2) resume or CV; (3) a proof of proficiency in English; (4) copies of diplomas and transcripts from universities attended; and (5) a letter of support from the employer, if any.
